Day 38: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Since I was craving sushi when I woke up, I went to a Japanese restaurant for lunch. I got avocado maki, veggie gyoza, miso soup, and green ice cream.
I had booked a canal tour so after eating, I headed over to the pier. It was an hour-long tour and even though it was clearly a tourist attraction, it was decently priced.
After the canal tour, I stopped for a croissant and hot chocolate at Illy, before heading back to the hostel to take a nap. I woke up ready for dinner, so I grabbed some fries at a stand that claimed to be voted the best fries in Amsterdam. They had over 20 different sauces to choose from and I decided on garlic aioli. They were perfectly seasoned and well done, so maybe they WERE the best fries.
I decided to walk around the Red Light District for a little bit and quickly made my way to the end. I went down a side street and found a boba place so I got a drink and then headed back.
I had to work later in the evening so I wanted time to relax beforehand. This hostel was probably my least favorite place to stay and work. Every evening, they made me leave the room for an hour so that they could clean. This is understandable, but they didn’t have anywhere else that I could sit so I had to work from a bench in a random hallway.
