Day 45: Paris, France
I got up at around 2pm and was feeling pretty tired. I decided to visit Montmartre and the gardens at the Louvre.
I took the bus to Montmartre and walked up the hill to La Maison Rose. Unfortunately you needed reservations to eat there so I’d have to come back the next time I visited Paris.
I walked around for a bit and got a savory crepe with mushrooms and tomatoes. Afterwards, I walked to the lookout point with a beautiful of the city before taking the Metro down.
Next, I headed closer to the city center and walked by the Louvre pyramid. I got a croissant from a stand and then walked through the Tuileries Garden. It was getting pretty cold at this point so I decided to head back to the Airbnb.
I walked to the other end of the garden to catch the Metro and spotted a carousel in the middle of the garden. I took a few photos since the scene was very picturesque.
When I got back to the apartment, I decided to check on my train reservation for the next day and this is where things started taking a turn for the worse. With my Eurail Pass, there weren’t any seat reservations left on any of the trains to Nice, which is where I needed to transfer to the train to Monte Carlo.
I checked the website and almost all of the seat reservations were sold out as well. I considered trying to take the train and playing the clueless American, but after doing some research, it looked like I wouldn’t even be able to board the train without a seat reservation.
I sat on the website refreshing the page for what felt like ages and messaged the train company’s customer service before going to sleep after I had finished work for the night.
While I was working, I had decided to do a load of laundry and when I went to take it out of the washing machine, my clothes were stuck behind the metal laundry drum. I figured it just meant there was a step I was missing and went to sleep. I would deal with it in the morning.
