Day 5: Rome, Italy
I woke up on Monday at around 1pm after getting six hours of sleep. Since it was going to be a sunny day, I wanted to be up and out of the hostel earlier. I planned to visit the Pantheon and explore more of the city in the daylight.
The Pantheon was about a mile from the hostel so I walked over. On my way, I passed the Trevi Fountain again and stopped for food. I decided to order the mushroom risotto since all I had eaten at this point was pasta. It was definitely a more touristy spot because the menu was also available in English and they played American music, but the food was good.
The entrance to the Pantheon was free and the luckily the line wasn’t too long so the wait went by quickly. It was cool to walk around and see both the outside and the inside.
After the Pantheon, I walked to Piazza Venezia which is a central hub in Rome. I had passed by it a couple days prior but wanted to sit and watch the cars go by for a bit. I then found myself following the lights that were strung above the streets and came across Zara, so I decided to do a little shopping. I found a coat that I immediately fell in love with so I ended up purchasing it. I have no clue how I’m going to be able to fit this in my suitcase but that’s a problem for future me to figure out.
I headed back to the hostel after going to Zara and once again, got my “breakfast” at around 7pm CET/10am PT. After chatting with someone who was also from America, I felt tired so I decided to take a quick nap before my work shift.
I headed down to the common area at around 11pm after my nap. It was a busy night so I ended up signing off and going to sleep at 8am CET/11pm PT. It was another successful day of my WFH trip. I’m so glad that I decided to hop on that plane and do this.
