Day 21: Rovinj, Croatia

I woke up even earlier, the earliest I’d woken up on this trip so far, and decided that I’d grab a late breakfast before going another adventure.

I went to the restaurant below the apartment I was staying in since it looked fairly popular. Even though it was cold, I decided to sit outside since that seems to be a thing here.

I ordered hot chocolate, a slice of cake, and a vegan sandwich. The cake was super rich so I didn’t end up finishing it all but I give it a 10/10. Everything else was great. The restaurant didn’t take credit cards but luckily I had a few euros on me which they accepted, even though the currency in Croatia is kunas.

After eating, I headed to Punta Corrente Park. I made a stop at the pharmacy to get a rapid COVID test. I was going to be passing through Italy on the way to my next destination and I wanted to be on the safe side since a negative test is required to enter the country. The test cost $15 and the results came back in 20 minutes.

I continued on my way and passed a small basketball court where there were images on Steph Curry and LeBron James hanging up. Of course I stopped and took a picture. As I walked further, I ran into an extremely friendly cat that came right up to me. I spent a few minutes with it and kept going. 15 minutes later, I arrived at the entrance of the park.

I headed down the path and to the water. As I walked along the edge of the coast, I made my way past a climbing wall, a few beaches, and my favorite part: a bunch of stacked rocks all laid out on the sand. I stopped to add a creation of my own and kept walking.

After doing a full loop, it was starting to get dark so I headed back into town and to the Airbnb. I chilled out on the couch for a bit before deciding that I was going to go back to the hotel and get more truffle pasta for dinner. It was just as good the second time around.

I finished dinner at around 10pm and went back to the Airbnb to take a quick nap, talked with friends back in America for a bit, and then went to sleep. I had a long travel day ahead of me.
