Day 16: Venice, Italy
I woke up at around the same time as yesterday and got ready to head into town. After eating a small snack at the hostel, I went to the train station. There are always trains within 5-10 minutes headed to the Santa Lucia station in Venice which is super convenient.
It was a warmer day and the sun was out. I decided to visit the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, a museum located in an area that I hadn’t yet visited. I walked through a completely different side of Venice and I loved the area. Everything was bright and colorful, and it seemed like there were less tourists around.
I got to the museum a little bit before 5pm, bought a ticket, and made my way through the various rooms full of art. They also had a small outdoor area on the water with a beautiful view.
Out of everything that they had displayed, my favorite was this neon sign outside:
After the museum, I went to a cafe that I walked by earlier in the day called IMAGINA Café. I ordered a hot chocolate and a veggie sandwich on focaccia bread. The hot chocolate was super rich and probably the best hot chocolate I’d ever had, and the sandwich was the perfect portion size.
I then headed to the train station and went to Treviso, a city around 15 miles from where I’m staying in Mestre and a 30 minute drive. After walking around for a few hours, I was getting tired so I went back to the hostel.
In the middle of the night, I got hungry but there were very few places open. I ended up ordering Uber Eats from one of the only two restaurants available. Delivery was quick and efficient and I met the driver downstairs.
I hung out in the common area for a bit before heading back to my room to watch a movie. I also finally finalized my plans for where I’d visit next. Because it was another off day, I went to sleep at around 5am. It had been a long, but adventurous day.
