Day 17: Venice, Italy
I woke up at around 3pm and felt extra tired. I debated staying inside and just watching movies, but I figured I could take a quick trip to Venice and then come back to the room for a nap before work.
I walked around my new favorite area that I’d discovered and grabbed some food at a cute little café that I had seen the other day. I hadn’t eaten yet so I got some pasta and then hot chocolate. An extremely random combination, but I wanted something to warm me up.
After eating, I headed back to the train station and went to the hostel. I took a quick nap and woke up to find that the power had gone out. The Wi-Fi was still working and there was a light in my room that was functioning, but other than that, nothing would turn on or charge.
I went down to the common area and it was completely packed with people. My laptop and phone were both fully charged so I wasn’t too worried, but I wanted to see how everyone else was doing. I asked the front desk and they said that this was first time the power had ever gone out and they didn’t know how long it’d last.
Since it was loud downstairs, I decided to go back to my room. I was able to take the elevator down, but of course it wasn’t working anymore so I had to walk back up 8 flights of stairs. Out of breath, I made it to my room and around ten minutes later, the power came back on.
I spent the rest of the night working and as usual, went to bed as the sun was beginning to rise. It was a relaxing day with an exciting ending as the Niners beat the Packers.
