I woke up a little before 2pm and got ready to head out for the day. I had a ticket for the Anne Frank House later in the afternoon and needed to grab something to eat first.
Before finding somewhere for a late lunch, I dropped off my laundry at the laundromat nearby. She was going to do it for me and I’d pick it up in a few hours.
I wandered around for a bit, exploring the canals. I stopped for food at a crêpe place and got a savory one with mushrooms and tomatoes. The waiter was funny and mentioned how Americans always use their forks as a knife and struggle, but still don’t pick up a knife. I looked down and that’s what I was doing.
After eating, I walked over to the Anne Frank House. I haven’t read the book yet, but it was super interesting to walk through the museum to learn a bit more about her life story before going upstairs to the location where the family hid out.
We got to walk through their entire living space, which was preserved carefully with Anne’s magazine cutouts hanging on the wall and the marks visible on the wall where they measured their heights as they grew. After the tour, I bought the book so I could read the full story.
I went to pick up my laundry and headed back to the hostel for a bit before going to a potato restaurant for dinner. They specialized in large baked potatoes with various toppings. There was a bit of a wait but it was worth it.
Afterwards, I walked back to the hostel and ended up hanging out with a few other people who were staying there. I didn’t have to work so I went to bed a bit early.
