It was my last full day in Amsterdam and I decided to visit the Albert Cuypmarkt. I got a jackfruit bao burger and of course, I had to try a stroopwafel. I got a fresh one and watched him make it in front of me. It was perfectly sweet and warm, which was a good remedy for the cold, windy day.
After the market, I walked to the other side of the city near the hostel and took the ferry across the water. I loved that everyone just rode their bikes directly onto the ferry and then rode off on the other side. It was such an efficient transportation system for the residents of Amsterdam. It’s also free.
The reason I went to the other side was because I had decided to book a ticket for the A’DAM Lookout, which has Europe’s highest swing at the top of the tower. It was absolutely freezing, but the view was beautiful and I had timed my ticket to when the sun was setting.
The ride on the swing was short, but you go over the edge of the tower and get an incredible view so it was worth it. It said no phones were allowed, but I had to take the risk and I was able to capture around 8 seconds of footage before they noticed and told me to put the phone away.
I hungout at the top of a the tower for a bit, defrosting from the wind outside, before heading back down from the tower and across the water to the hostel.
I took a quick nap before starting work. I also spontaneously looked up European soccer matches for the rest of my trip and noticed that the Champions League game between Paris and Real Madrid was the following evening when I’d be in Paris. It was pricey, but I decided to go for it. I was excited for the next day to arrive.
