Last weekend, I traveled to Seattle, Washington for three days/two nights thanks to the generosity of Alaska Airlines. The main purpose of this trip was to write a review of Safeco Field for my 30 Before 30 series. If you haven't read the review, you can check that out here: Safeco Field. In addition to my baseball adventure, I thought I'd share some of the other things that we experienced.
Pike Place Market
Our hotel was located about five blocks from the Pike Place Market, so we knew we had to check it out. It's such a Seattle tourist staple. The website describes the market as:
"Pike Place Market is a special community within the heart of Seattle’s downtown. More than the city’s beloved public market, Pike Place Market is a vibrant neighborhood comprised of hundreds of farmers, craftspeople, small businesses and residents. Each group is an important and vital makeup of the Pike Place Neighborhood.
In addition to preserving and protecting the historic buildings and character of the nine-acre historic district and serving as an incubator and supporter of farmers, artisans and small businesses, the Pike Place Market was chartered by the City of Seattle to provide services for low-income individuals."
Gum Wall
This one was pretty inevitable as well. Side note: I found myself saying. "I've definitely seen this all over Instagram!" and it was in that moment that I realized I'm a little too LA for my own good.
Waterfront
We walked down to the Central Waterfront of Seattle, and it kind of reminded a little bit of Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39 in San Francisco. I think this picture of the ferris wheel is my favorite photo I took from the whole trip.
Safeco Field
A more detailed review is available here as previously mentioned, but I thought I'd add in some of my photos on this post as well. Safeco Field was a great ballpark, and I would definitely return for another game.
Ferry Ride to Bainbridge
We decided to take a ferry ride to Bainbridge on our last day in Seattle, and the views of the city were absolutely gorgeous.
The City
I also took a lot of miscellaneous pictures around the city that I thought I'd post as well.
In addition, I also made a short video about the trip that you can watch here:
When all is said and done, I had an absolutely amazing trip to Seattle and I'm so thankful that Alaska Airlines was able to make it happen for me. I'd been to the city twice before, but I wasn't able to explore much during those trips. I'm sure I'll be back sometime in the future, because I think that it's a great city that still has a lot more for me to discover.
