There are a lot of jokes about living in Los Angeles. The Instagram account @OverheardLA posts text images with quotes of actual overheard conversations had in this city. While some of these show how superficial others can be, there's also a lot of humor in the eating and lifestyle habits of the people who live here. If you don't follow the account yet, I highly suggest that you do. This is one of my favorite Instagram accounts because it's scarily accurate in depicting life in LA. I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite posts so far. Enjoy!
This is such a classic Los Angeles thing. Being vegan is a huge trend here and people tend to turn it into a lifestyle - and if that includes the name of their dog, I'm not surprised.
People dress up to go to the grocery store in LA. It's not uncommon to see a few photoshoots every time you leave your home. Each person has their own aesthetic that is clearly visible based on how they dress.
This one really got to me, because it's extremely accurate. I always have to explain that I'm vegetarian and then get asked about the meaning behind all of my tattoos. Moving back with my parents in the Bay Area though? That is not going to happen.
I relate to this one on a whole other level. I've talked with a few friends who have also agreed with me. We all felt that we had more to offer the world than what was available in our hometowns. However, most people who move to LA have that mentality. We're all fighting for those few top spots in our desired career field.
If you've never used Uber before, the UberBlack cars are always very nice. They're more expensive than UberX and a lot more bougie than UberPool, the cheapest version of Uber. Everyone always wants to look important. Arriving in an UberPool is showing that you're trying to save money, whereas those who can afford UberBlack are usually much more well-off, established people.
This is just way too spot on.
I laughed so hard at this one, because a lot of people are in LA to become an actor or model. People are always curious about what others do and want to know who they are. They'll ask a multitude of questions about their life in the most random places.
This post is so me. If you know me at all, you'd know how much I love Whole Foods and all of its organic food. While expensive, it's definitely my favorite place to shop. People in LA love their healthy food, juice bars, organic food, salads, superfoods, etc. so they absolutely adore Whole Foods.
I had never even thought about it, but this is so true. I enjoy award show season because I love going to award shows. Pilot season is fun because then I get more work on set since all the shows are taping. Festival season is great because I thoroughly enjoy going to hear live music and in LA, the lineups never disappoint.
If something sounds trendy, anyone will do it. People believe in the hype of things that may be a little ridiculous. What other city has more than one dog yoga studio???
This is unfortunately true due to the traffic in LA. That drive during rush hour could take up to two hours. On a normal day during any other time, it'll probably take around 45 minutes to an hour. To avoid this, you should probably date within three miles of your home.
