I woke up at around 2am and had a full day planned.
First, I visited Notre Dame. You can’t go inside right now because they’re still working on repairs from the fire, but it was interesting to read about everything they’re doing in order to restore it.
I walked over to the Pantheon next, but ended up stopping at the Shakespeare and Company bookstore. They had tons of books and if they weren’t so heavy, I would’ve bought more but ended up purchasing a small version of Twelfth Night in honor of our 8th grade play so I could get a stamp. On the top floor in the reading room, there was a sleeping cat. The perfect touch to a classic bookstore.
Once I finished at the bookstore, I continued on my way to the Pantheon. It was especially windy and cold, so I stayed for a short while to take a few photos and then kept walking so I could warm myself up by being on the move.
The restaurant exterior that was used in Emily in Paris as Gabriel’s restaurant was nearby so I had to stop and take a photo. I just had to. There was even a small Emily in Paris menu in the window.
The apartment that Emily and Gabriel lived in was directly across the street so I made a quick stop there as well. I thought I’d be the only one visiting these spots but I saw multiple people doing the same. I guess we all hate-watched Emily in Paris.
My next stop was the Luxembourg Gardens but I got there a few minutes too late and the gates were closed. I grabbed a few photos from outside of the gates and then found a bus to take me back to my apartment.
I took another nap and planned to go out again. I didn’t want to go back to Bastille and there were a few clubs that looked interesting but weren’t nearby. I wanted to go somewhere that I could walk with good music. After searching Google Maps for over an hour and reading reviews, I finally settled on Cafe Oz. It was a quick, 15 minute walk and their Instagram Story looked promising.
My plans almost changed last minute when I met a group of people outside of my apartment. One of them lived in the building and they invited me to go out with them, but there wasn’t any room left in the Uber and the driver wouldn’t let anyone sit up front so I told them to have a good night and went with my original plan.
There was a small line to get inside but it went by quickly and the cover fee included a drink. It felt a bit like an American frat party at first and I wasn’t sure how long I’d stick it out, but I ended up staying until around 4:30am before heading back to the apartment.
