I woke up at around 2pm and got ready for the day. I decided that I would spend the afternoon exploring Positano. It was colder on the Amalfi Coast than in Rome, so I layered up and headed out. I made a quick stop at the ATM to get some cash and then was on my way.
After a combination of walking on the street and down multiple flights of stairs, I made it to Spiagga Grande, the main beach in Positano. The walk was really nice and I kept stopping every few minutes to take photos.
This is a summer town so the off-season combined with COVID meant that a lot of restaurants were closed and there weren’t as many tourists around. If you look at pictures of the beach during the summer, it’s usually full of chairs and people so it was nice to have room to walk around without huge crowds.
I headed to Positano Paradise Lounge Bar after the sun had set and got a croissant and green tea. It was really cold and I needed something to warm up. I was also procrastinating my climb back up to the Airbnb. I sat at the bar and people-watched for a little over an hour before reluctantly heading to the grocery store and up the multiple flights of stairs.
It was completely dark at this point and since there weren’t many people out, it was eerily quiet as I made my way up the 65+ floors worth of stairs to get home. I probably passed the same amount of people as I did cats. Completely out of breath, I made it to the small grocery store. I tried to get the exact amount of stuff I’d need for the time that I’m here so I wouldn’t have to transport groceries again.
There were a few more flights of stairs to get from the store to the Airbnb and I swore to myself that I would take a taxi the next time. My legs were definitely feeling it. I finally made it back to the apartment an hour after leaving the beach, relieved to be warm and to have conquered the hike up all the stairs.
I was pretty hungry by the time I got back so I made dinner while listening to a 2000s playlist with Jesse McCartney, Hillary Duff, and Hannah Montana because why not?? No pun intended.
I worked up a new blog post plus some TikTok videos that I decided to convert into Instagram Reels for my new travel page. I also decided that I’m going to try and put some money behind a couple Instagram posts to promote this blog. I’ve enjoyed writing about my travels so far and at the rate I’m creating all of this content, I want to get more eyes on it.
I knew that I was going to stay in Europe past my flight home on February 17, so I decided to extend my return to March 17 and changed my flight. If MLB does not end the lockout in time and Spring Training is delayed, I’d consider delaying my return home another week or two until my tourist visa expires. In the immediate future, the main things I would be returning to America for include Spring Training, baseball season, and Coachella.
This was my “Sunday” and last off day before the start of a work week, so I went to bed a bit early again at 5am. Tomorrow was going to be a relaxed day before my shift and then I would find something touristy to do on Sunday. I don’t feel rushed or pressured to do something incredible every single day, so I’m doing everything in moderation which has been nice.
