I had decided that my next destination would be Rovinj, Croatia. It wasn’t too far from Italy, but it was the perfect little town in a country that I’d wanted to visit for a while.
Rovinj is located in the Istrian peninsula along the coastline of the Adriatic Sea. Similar to Positano, it’s a summer tourist destination but the forecast said there would be a couple sunny days and I figured it was worth a visit.
Getting to Rovinj was fairly simple, it just meant that I needed to leave the hostel right after I’d finished work. I took the 7:51am train from Mestre to Trieste, Italy and arrived a little under two hours later. I slept the entire ride. After arriving in Trieste, I took the FlixBus headed towards Pula, Croatia.
As we crossed the border, the bus made a quick stop and an officer came onboard to check everyone’s documents. We then proceeded along the route and I continued to sleep. I had set an alarm on my phone to be on the safe side, but I woke up around 5 minutes before my stop in Rovinj. Half awake, I hopped off the bus and headed towards the Airbnb.
It was a quick 5 minute walk through town and the host greeted me on the street before walking me in. The view from the Airbnb is perfect, with the cobblestone street on one side and the port with a sea view on the other.
I took an hour nap and then decided to do a little exploring and grab food. Since it’s the off-season, a lot of places happened to be closed but I went to a place suggested by the host of my Airbnb.
I wandered around a bit after eating and ended up finding the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the water.
Then I headed back to the Airbnb and settled in. I watched a movie and relaxed after my travel day, and decided to go to sleep at around 4am since I was off work for the next few days.
